Chantal (they/she) is currently an intern completing her practicum through Yorkville University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Mount Royal University in 2018. She also minored in Art History and World Religions so she could explore connections with culture and religion in ways that are not typically taught. She believes deeply in the inherent creativity and resilience of humanity. Likewise, diversity, social justice, and intersectionality are instrumental to her approach—She wants to center the experiences that shape your reality.
Her areas of focus are varied and include but are not limited to anxiety, depression, attachment, ADHD/ADD, autism, the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, trauma, personal growth, and eating disorders.
She is passionate about many approaches and apply them in an integrative way that draws from multiple therapeutic styles depending on your unique needs. The styles that most inspire Her include:
- Humanism, which is defined by its focus on the client and their experience as the experts of their lives.
- Psychodynamics, which investigates the subconscious thoughts and meanings we derive from our experiences and the world around us.
- Narrative, which attends to how we see ourselves in the greater story of our life, and how we can change our place and function in that story.
- Existentialism, which focuses on what we believe gives our lives meaning, and how we can find meaning in life.
However, she also believes in the value of Cognitive-Behavioural, Dialectic, and Solution-Focused perspectives as well, which independently focus on altering how we think about and interact with the world, ourselves, and our problems on a deeper level. When combined, these approaches can facilitate potent change.
She wants to collaborate with you to find your strengths, the best tools to help you in the moment and in the future, and to help foster confidence as you work together to build a life and self that gives you joy and a sense of fulfillment.
Growing up as a kid that fell between the cracks, she has a deep empathy for others and a personal understanding of the frustrations (and feelings of helplessness) that can come from our larger social, economic, and educational systems. These experiences catapulted her interest in psychology and passion for volunteering with and advocating for the community at large.

Hey there! I'm Kate, your student therapist, navigating the twists and turns of life with you. Picture our sessions as a cozy space—safe, warm, and non-judgmental.
I am a graduate student in counselling at City University of Seattle in Canada and a multicultural perspective shaped by my journey from the Philippines to Canada. I believe in embracing diversity and recognize the importance of understanding different walks of life.
My mission? To guide you through life's challenges, ensuring you feel heard, validated, and indeed seen. Together, we'll craft a toolbox of useful skills to tackle everyday challenges. Your healing journey is as important as the destination, and I'm here to walk that path with you. Let's dive in and find the strength to face whatever life throws our way!
In my therapeutic practice, I am deeply committed to supporting individuals navigating life’s difficulties. My areas of focus include anxiety and anxiety disorders, depression, addictions, trauma, grief and loss, ADHD, ADD, and the impacts of intergenerational trauma. I also specialize in addressing the unique mental health needs associated with immigration and guiding clients through various life transitions. In addition to individual therapy, another area of focus is with couples. In these sessions, I explore relationship issues, the complexities of addictions within partnerships, intercultural dynamics, and the sensitive topic of infidelity.
Modalities I will be incorporating in practice are Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which helps in managing emotions and improving relationships; Solution-Focused Behavioral Therapy, focusing on finding solutions in the present time; Narrative Therapy, which involves re-framing and re-authoring one's life story; Cognitive Behavior Therapy, aimed at changing unhelpful thinking and behaviour patterns; and the Gottman Method, which is particularly effective in couples therapy for enhancing relationship dynamics.
I can offer bilingual services in Tagalog and English, fostering an inclusive and comfortable environment for those who find comfort in their native language. This dedication to cultural and linguistic flexibility showcases my commitment to meeting clients where they are on their unique journey to mental health and well-being.
More about me:
I've been deeply immersed in supporting vulnerable communities since my teenage years. My passion for this work was ignited at age 15, beginning with volunteering at Inn From the Cold. This early experience shaped my commitment to service, leading me to work with individuals with disabilities at L’Arche. My commitment to helping those in crisis further developed as I answered crisis calls at the Distress Centre, providing a compassionate ear and support in times of need.
My experience also extends to working with youth from diverse backgrounds, helping them navigate the complexities of mental health and addiction issues. Each role has enriched my understanding of the human experience and profoundly influenced my approach in sessions, where I strive to create a supportive, knowledgeable, and safe environment for all.
Outside the therapy room, you'll often find me embracing my inner foodie, relishing various cuisines whether I'm experimenting in the kitchen or savouring dishes at multiple restaurants. My active lifestyle revolves around long, reflective walks in lakes and rivers. Spending quality time with friends and family is another joy of mine, as these moments are the treasures of life. Currently, I fill my time embarking on a musical journey, learning to play the kalimba.
